Marina Skugareva is a Ukrainian artist, one of the representatives of the “New Ukrainian Wave”. One of the main themes of Marina Skugareva’s art is a nude human figure in space. For the artist this theme emerges from traditions of expressionism, but her expressions are not as much visible emotions as they are a manner of vision, a search of “another point of view”, a way to preserve “the real life” in space of the art devastated by endless citations and reproduction.

"I still can’t realize what is happening now, that will come later, but it’s already clear we will remember this time for the rest of our lives. Yesterday I watched an all-night vigil broadcast, and it, along with all these long, deserted and silent days of our all-planetary quarantine, reminded me of a time before Easter in a completely empty church and for a long time nothing happened, only once in a while there was someone walking back and forth, and then, somewhere very far away and very quietly a voice sang, "Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ". It seems to me that something completely new and beautiful will soon happen to all of us."
